Celtic mythology encompasses a vast collection of stories and folklore from various ancient Celtic cultures, including the Irish, Welsh, and Gauls. These myths often explore themes of gods, heroes, magic, and the supernatural, offering insights into the beliefs and worldviews of these ancient peoples.
Before learning about the Myth of Oisin, the Land of Eternal Youth, we all discussed the pros and cons of "living forever", and everyone shared whether or not they would choose to, if given the chance.
We also learned the legend behind the creation of the Giant's Causeway. This land formation derives its name from the legendary Irish giant, Finn McCool. According to the tale, he ripped up land and tossed it into the sea to form a bridge, allowing him to confront the notorious Scottish giant, Benandonan. Situated on the northern coast of Northern Ireland, the Giant's Causeway is made of thousands of hexagonal basalt columns, created as lava cooled and fractured. We have a similar formation a few hours drive from LA, the Devil's Postpile.
