One of the first books we'll be reading is THE ARRIVAL by Shaun Tan, a graphic novel without words that narrates the tale of an immigrant's journey in a fictional realm. It features panels of varying sizes, along with full-page illustrations portraying a world that bears some resemblance to ours, yet brims with surreal and mystical elements.
THE ARRIVAL narrates six tales of a young man who departs from his native country to seek a fresh start for his wife and daughter. Along the way, he faces challenges from language and cultural barriers that his quest for employment and housing in this unfamiliar land.
